Saugier Bernard

Bernard Saugier est né en 1943. Après des études de physique à l’ENS (Ulm), il entre au CNRS en 1966 à Montpellier pour étudier les échanges de gaz carbonique et de vapeur d’eau entre la végétation et l’atmosphère, à l’aide de méthodes micrométéorologiques. Ces échanges dépendent de processus biologiques (photosynthèse, respiration, ouverture des stomates) et de processus physiques (transferts d’énergie et de matière dans l’air et le sol). Il étudie ainsi des cultures puis une prairie naturelle en Saskatchewan au Canada. En 1978 il est nommé professeur à Orsay et étudie le bilan carboné de forêts, les effets d’une augmentation de la concentration en gaz carbonique de l’air, et l’estimation de la production végétale à l’aide de mesures par satellite. Il est professeur émérite depuis septembre 2004 et membre de l’Académie d’Agriculture de France.
